MEDIA RELEASE

May Long Weekend - Be Prepared, Plan Ahead

 (Parry Sound, ON. – May 13, 2020)

As we head into the first long weekend of the summer, West Parry Sound Area Municipalities are reminding the public, permanent and seasonal residents, to be prepared and plan ahead.

Be prepared by shopping early, making your shopping trips before or after the weekend, and limiting shopping to essential items. This will help to take pressures off of our stores which will see an influx of people over the weekend.

Planning ahead and arriving at the cottage ready to self support will mean more time lake side as our local stores have procedural changes in place due to COVID-19, including limiting the number of shoppers in the stores, which will lead to additional wait times.

Please remember if you need to go shopping, be friendly, be positive and be patient. COVID-19 procedural changes, in addition to the start of the summer season, can make for a stressful situation. However, we are all in this together and our essential workers are doing their part to keep our community healthy and running.

For up to date information about current restrictions and service limitations in place, visit your municipality’s website.

And remember, even asymptomatic people can be carriers of COVID-19. Unnecessary trips into the community, or needing to call on emergency services could cause you to unknowingly contract or spread the virus. Please do your part, stay safe, practice physical distancing and help prevent the spread of COVID-19.
